Couple arrested after altercation with cops in Subang Jaya

SUBANG JAYA: A Malaysian woman and her foreign husband who had a run-in with police have been arrested, says Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Abd Khalid Othman.

He said that they were arrested on June 9 near Damen Mall here at 7.26pm after the police stopped their car to check for approval letters to move around during the nationwide lockdown.

"She started provoking the police and snatched her husband's passport which was being held by the police. She also questioned the purpose of the checks.

"The husband and wife, aged 33 and 42 respectively, were arrested after she started being aggressive. They have been remanded for three days," he said.

In a viral video, police are heard telling the woman to calm down after she questions why her car was stopped.

She then berates the police for "not speaking in a better tone of voice" before she pushes one of the policemen on duty and is restrained by others.
