GOF arrest two men, seize RM80, 000 worth of illegal ciggies, vehicles in Johor


ISKANDAR PUTERI: The General Operations Force (GOF) have confiscated close to RM80, 000 worth of illicit cigarettes and vehicles during a raid at Jalan Bestari, Nusa Bestari, here.

GOF Fifth Battalion commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said two local male suspects were also arrested at the location at about 10am on Thursday (June 10).

He added that the duo, aged 32 and 44, were arrested while loading 225 cartons of smuggled cigarettes at a parking lot behind a premises.

“The illegal ciggies were found inside two vehicles, ” he said in a statement here.

He added that the ciggies alone are worth RM39, 734 and have been brought to Iskandar Puteri police district headquarters for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 135 of the Customs Act 1967.
