Police arrest 14 over fight near PPR in Jinjang

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 14 men have been detained for allegedly fighting near the Batu Muda People's Housing Project (PPR) in Jinjang.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said the incident occurred at about 11pm on Thursday (June 3).

"We believe the fight started after a group of men were recording an argument between a married couple.

"The husband saw that they were being recorded. Some harsh words were exchanged before the fight ensued," he said when contacted on Friday (June 4).

Those detained, aged between 20 and 54, have been remanded, he added.

"Eleven of those detained had criminal records.

"We are investigating under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons," he said.

ACP Beh advised the public to always obey the law and to preserve the harmony between races.

"We will take stern action against anyone who disrupts public order.

"We also urge those with information on the case to contact Sentul police at 03-4048 2206," he said.
