Najib’s discovery applications in 1MDB trial not permissible under Malaysian law, says prosecutor

KUALA LUMPUR: The discovery application filed by Datuk Seri Najib Razak relating to documents linked to former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz is merely a collateral attack on issues raised at the RM2.28bil 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) trial), the High Court here heard.

“The application is frivolous. Why is the application bad? It seeks to make a collateral attack upon the issues at the trial. That is not permissible under our law, ” ad hoc prosecutor Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram said in his submission before the court at the hearing of the application on Monday (May 31).
