Covid-19: Vaccinations for foreign workers in essential industries to start soon

PUTRAJAYA: An industrial vaccination programme, which will also cover foreign workers, will start soon, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

The coordinating minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme said details would be announced next week.

"Vaccination for foreign workers will be covered under the industrial vaccination programme.

"Under the programme, we will prioritise industries which cannot close or where work from home for the employees is not possible during this movement control order period.

"This includes foreign workers, who will be given vaccinations at the same time as local workers," he said on Monday (May 31).

On Friday (May 28), the government announced a nationwide full lockdown from June 1 to 14.

Only 17 essential sectors are allowed to operate, including food and beverages, healthcare facilities as well as transportation.
