Bukit Mertajam market closed due to Covid-19 cases

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Bukit Mertajam market has been closed after three Covid-19 cases were reported.

Seberang Prai City Council (MPSP) mayor Datuk Rozali Muhamud said three traders were found to be positive, and the market would remain closed until June 8.

"Sanitisation work and contact tracing at the market would be carried out during this period," said Rozali on Monday (May 31).

Rozali urged traders, identified as close contacts, to call the district health department at 04-5397884 for swab test appointments.

"They could also take the swab test at private clinics and inform the council of the results for record purposes, ” he said.

Rozali warned traders to comply with all standard operating procedures, and those who have been asked to take a swab test to do so.

"MPSP, police and the Health Department could track them down and action will be taken against them for failing to comply with the directive," he said.
