Covid-19: 7,857 new cases bring total to 541,224

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia reported 7,857 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (May 27), continuing its upward trend.

The figure overtakes the daily record of 7,478 cases which was set only the day before (May 26).

In a Twitter post, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country’s cumulative cases is now 541,224.

Selangor recorded the highest figure of all states with 2,675 new cases, followed by Sarawak with 772 and Kelantan with 752.In the same 24-hour span, 59 more people died due to Covid-19.

This takes the country’s death toll to 2,491.

There were 4,598 patients who were discharged from treatment.

Malaysia’s total recoveries is now 469,325.

There are 69,408 active Covid-19 cases currently.

The number of people in intensive care units (ICU) is now 771, with 392 requiring ventilator support.
