Covid-19: 10 new clusters in Melaka, 12 deaths

MELAKA: Ten new Covid-19 clusters have emerged in the state, with a 27-year-old Melakan being the youngest of 12 new deaths from the disease.

The Melaka Health Department said on Tuesday (May 25) that the new clusters comprise eight from manufacturing plants, five from religious congregational gatherings, four from workplaces one each from an educational institution and a detention centre here.

The Department also said Melaka recorded 12 deaths between Sunday (May 23) and Monday (May 24).

They said that 329 locals tested positive on Monday (May 24) and that the Melaka Hospital intensive care unit had reached a critical level.

Besides the death of the 27-year-old man from Batu Berendam here, who also had diabetes, a 41-year-old man with no previous health conditions succumbed to Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Kota Laksamana assemblyman Low Chee Leong said he had suggested for the state government to procure vaccines using the state's budget.

He added that the situation in the state was worsening and the vaccination exercise should be expedited.
