Four-year-old boy drowns after falling into Sg Piah in Perak

IPOH: A four-year-old boy was found drowned after falling into Sungai Piah in Kampung Ulu Piah, near here.

A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the victim, Izzauf Mohd Ghazali from Kampung Baru Tambun, was found by members of the public about 1km where he fell in at about 10.40am on Saturday (May 15).

"He was confirmed dead by the emergency and rescue team. His body has been handed over to the police," he said.

The spokesman said the boy's grandmother, Fatimah Abu, had taken the victim and another grandchild, six, to the riverside for a picnic.

"As she was preparing the food, the boy fell into the river and was swept away," he added.
