Cops arrest woman over viral posts insulting police at roadblock


PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested a woman for allegedly making abusive and threatening posts about police personnel manning road blocks here on Facebook.

OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Fadzil Ali said the 36-year-old suspect was arrested on Thursday (May 6) at about 9pm following a police report made about a Facebook account holder known as “Diana Mat”.

He said that the initial investigation of several screenshots taken of the Facebook account showed that the posts contained derogatory words and threats against police.

ACP Mohd Fadzil said police seized the woman’s handphone as it is believed to have been used to upload the social media posting.

The case is being investigated under Section 507 and Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Act.
