Mcd S'pore to connect M'sian families via 'My Happy Table'

SINGAPORE (Bernama): In helping Malaysians stranded in Singapore celebrate Ramadan with their loved ones back home, McDonald’s Singapore will help connect them with their families in Malaysia via its new campaign My Happy Table.

"Do you (or anyone you know) have family in Johor Bahru that you miss celebrating Ramadan with? My Happy Table will be connecting more Muslims with their families back home, ” posted McDonald’s Singapore in its official Facebook page on Monday (April 19).

To enter, interested Malaysians may share their story in the comment section of the post, said the foodservice retailer.

McDonald’s Singapore, which has a network of more than 130 restaurants island-wide, said the most heartwarming entries will enjoy My Happy Table with a complimentary McDonald’s meal across borders.

It noted that selected Malaysian Muslim family members must be available to visit its restaurants in Canberra, Singapore and Taman Desa Tebrau, Johor Bahru, Malaysia during the slot allocated to them - 7.30pm-8.30pm; 9pm-10pm; or 10.30pm-11.30pm between April 23-28.

As a promo towards the campaign, the retailer had on April 16 posted a film about a few Malaysians working with McDonald’s Singapore who won’t be able to celebrate Ramadan with their families in Malaysia.

"Watch Samsuri’s story to witness how the Spirit of Ramadan is stronger than the border that divides us, ” it posted.

The film can be watched at and was widely shared on social media.

It brought many who watched to tears.

Travel arrangement between Malaysia-Singapore under the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) were suspended from early February for three months owing to a resurgence of coronavirus cases worldwide. While the Periodic Commuting Arrangement or PCA is still on to facilitate the movement of workers between both countries, many chose to stay back in the island republic as they cannot afford the quarantine cost when they return to Singapore. - Bernama
