Ismail Sabri: EMCO for four areas in Sabah and Pahang from April 14-27


PETALING JAYA: The enhanced movement control order will be enforced in several parts of Tawau, Kota Belud and Sandakan in Sabah and in Temerloh, Pahang, from April 14-27, after drastic increases in Covid-19 cases, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

In a statement on Tuesday (April 13), the Senior Minister (Security) said the EMCO will be enforced in Flat Sim-Sim, Mukim Beerhala and Kampung Sungai Obar, Mukim Sentosa in Sandakan.

Ismail Sabri said 38 screenings were conducted at the Sim-Sim housing area and 17 positive cases were recorded, while 46 screenings were conducted in Kampung Sungai Obar with 10 positive cases detected.

In Sabah, the EMCO will be enforced in Taman Villa MAS, Tawau after seven positive cases were detected in 42 screenings.

"The Health Ministry confirms that there has been a drastic hike in cases within a week and there are still 35 screenings where the results are not known yet," he added.

The EMCO was also enforced on Kampung Melangkap Tomis in Kota Belud, Sabah after four positive cases were detected in 31 screenings conducted by the Health Ministry.

Ismail Sabri said the EMCO in Temerloh, In Pahang would be enforced in four villages – Kampung Paya Pulai Tengah, Kampung Pulau Terap, Paya Pulai-Kampung Batu 4, and Paya Pulai-Kampung Batu 5, Jalan Maran – after 16 positive cases were found among 234 screenings.

"The EMCO is to ensure the movement of villagers in this locality can be controlled in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 to other communities," he added.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO would be extended until April 28 in Kampung Ranggu Batu 10 in Tawau, Sabah, after 66 positive cases were detected from 265 screenings.

"The Health Ministry confirms that there are 122 samples still awaiting results." he added.

The EMCO is also extended to April 28 in Taman Semarak, Tawau, Sabah, after eight positive cases were detected from 160 screenings, he said, adding that 99 samples are still awaiting results.

The EMCO will also be extended to April 28 for Kampung Baru Pasir Putih in Tawau, Sabah, after 68 positive cases were detected form 847 screenings, with 441 samples still awaiting results.

The EMCO will be extended until April 29 in Kampung Simpang 3A in Tawau, Sabah, after 28 positive cases were detected from 745 screenings.

"The Health Ministry confirms that there 696 samples are still awaiting results and there are continuous infections among villagers," he added.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO at the YTY factory and workers quarters in Sitiawan, Perak and Kampung Rimbayan. Keningau, Sabah, would end on April 15 after a decrease in Covid-19 cases.
