PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional has welcomed former PKR vice-president Datuk Dr Xavier Jayakumar's decision to support the government as an independent Member of Parliament.

Perikatan secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, in a statement on Sunday (March 14), said the coalition believes that Dr Xavier, who is an experienced Member of Parliament, has made a decision driven by his priority to serve the wellbeing and interest of the people.
