Cops cripple online gambling ring with arrest of three men

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled an online gambling ring following a raid at Jalan Kiara here.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Omar said they raided the premises at around 9.40pm on Monday (March 8).

"We arrested three men aged between 24 and 30 years old during the raid.

"We also seized four monitors, two keyboards, five mobile phones, two central processing units, one modem, and an access card with a set of keys," he said in a statement Tuesday (March 9).

He said investigations revealed the syndicate had been active for eight month and used a website to promote their activities.

"They also used the WhatsApp and Telegram chat applications to attract clients.

"We urge the public to refrain from taking part in such activities," he said.

Anyone with information on such activities should contact the Brickfields police hotline at 03-2297 9222 or the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or go to the nearest police station.
