KUALA LUMPUR: The Henry Gurney school in Melaka and Rumah Sewa Anong and Beverly Hills in Bintulu, Sarawak, will be placed under enhanced movement control order.
Senior Minister (security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said until March 3, the Health Ministry has conducted 1,247 screenings.
"84 positive cases were recorded at both localities in Bintulu.
"The Health Ministry confirmed the occurrence of a steep increase in cases at these areas, with a high rate of transmission.
"After conducting a risk assessment, the government agreed to place the localities under EMCO from March 5 to March 18," he said.
He said this was to conduct targeted screenings and the standard operating procedures would be the same as announced for areas which were placed under EMCO.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said for the Henry Gurney School at Teluk Mas, Melaka, 152 positive cases were recorded as of March 3.
"These cases involved five staff, eight family members and 139 detainees.
"After conducting a risk assessment, the government agreed to place the school under an EMCO from March 6 to March 19," he said.
