KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded Tan Sri Annuar Musa's statement in connection with a photograph of him eating at a table with six other people during an event in Cheras.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said the Federal Territories Minister's statement was recorded on Tuesday (Feb 16).

"He spent about two hours with investigators.

"We will also record the statements of those in his entourage during the event as well as community members who attended it," he said after a function for retired and former police personnel on Wednesday (Feb 17).

Annuar had attended an event in Cheras on Saturday (Feb 13), where a photograph of the group eating together was taken and posted on social media.

It was later reported that the organiser of the event, Kelab Pencinta Alam Kolam Takungan Banjir Sungai Midah accepted the blame for the incident.

Comm Saiful Azly said the police would take into account the video apology issued by the event organiser.

"We are investigating a possible violation of Covid-19 standard operating procedure.

"Once the investigation is completed, we will refer the matter to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.

"The RM1,000 compound has not been issued as the police must investigate and get all the facts," he added.

Under the current movement control order, only two people are allowed per table at any restaurant or food premises.
