KUALA LUMPUR: The high cost for the Real-Time Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test is not due to profit margins, but because of the various resources required to run them, says the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA).
Its president Prof Datuk Dr Subramaniam Muniandy said a single RT-PCR test required not only the test kit, but also personal protective equipment (PPE) for the doctors and their team.
