PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong likened the passing of former Lord President Tun Mohamed Salleh Abas to the loss of a precious jewel.

“Today, the nation has lost a gem. May his soul be blessed. My condolences to his whole family, ” said the MCA president.

Dr Wee, who is also Transport Minister, said this when conveying his condolences to Salleh Abas’ family on Facebook on Saturday (Jan 16).

Salleh Abas, 91, passed away at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah in Kuala Terengganu at around 3.20am on Saturday, two days after he tested positive for Covid-19.

He was buried at the Jalan Pusara Muslim Cemetery in Kuala Terengganu at around 10.30am.

His burial was carried out under strict standard operating procedure by healthcare workers donning full personal protective equipment (PPE), as his family witnessed from behind the walls of the cemetery.
