PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) has conveyed his condolences to the family of Md Rajihan Junaidi, who died after heroically saving his wife from floodwaters.

The MCA president said he heard about Rajihan's death while on the way to Ayer Hitam from Melaka to officiate a Road Transport Department (JPJ) programme on Tuesday (Jan 5).

"After that, my political secretary Ling Tian Soon immediately visited Rajihan's family. He died after being swept away by strong currents at Batu 18, Jalan Kluang-Kahang last Saturday.

"His body was found by the search and rescue team this afternoon. May his soul rest in peace," he said on his Facebook page late Monday (Jan 4) night.

The Fire and Rescue Department found Rajihan's body at a banana farm some 100m away from the main road.

Kluang Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Akob Sedek said the body was found at about 5pm Monday (Jan 4).

According to Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Low Hang Seng, Rajihan had tried to cross the road in his car, but was pushed to the right side of the road by the strong currents.

Rajihan then broke a window to free his wife, who was later rescued by members of the public.

However, he could not get out in time as the car was swept away by the currents.
