PETALING JAYA: MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong has tested positive with Covid-19 and is currently self-isolating at home.

According to Chong, he got tested for Covid-19 after several of his friends who attended a gathering with him on Dec 26, had experienced several symptoms related to Covid-19.

“My friends called me three days ago and asked if I have any symptoms because many of them had experienced symptoms.

“I’m just tired but I still feel okay. So, me and my friends got tested and on Wednesday (Dec 30), it was confirmed that I have Covid-19.

“I was told to be in isolation and if there are any symptoms, then only I will be hospitalised, ” he told The Star on Friday (Dec 31).

Despite being infected with Covid-19, Chong, who appeared in high-spirits, said members of the public can still reach out to him if they have any issues, because he will be working from home.

“I will work from home because there are people who still need my advice, ” he said, adding that the MCA Public Services and Complaints Department on the seventh floor of Wisma MCA has been sanitised.

Chong also advised Malaysians to be responsible by getting themselves tested for Covid-19 if there is any suspicion.

“If you attend any functions and anyone was tested positive for Covid-19, get yourselves tested even if you have no symptoms.

“It is only responsible to do so, rather than be a silent carrier and infect more people.”
