Syed Saddiq shaves head after charity fundraising meets target

KUALA LUMPUR: Being a man of his word, Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has shaved off his hair, fulfilling his promise to go bald after the target to raise RM200,000 in his parliamentary constituency was met.

Syed Saddiq’s hair was shaved by his mother Sharifah Mahani Syed Abdul, which was aired live on Astro Awani on Wednesday (Dec 30) evening.

The former youth minister successfully raised RM383,000 in his “1 Keluarga, 1 Laptop” (one family one laptop) campaign as of Wednesday, where the funds would be used to purchase laptops for needy students in Muar, Johor.

During the process of his hair being shaved by his mother, Syed Saddiq also quipped that Malaysians would not call him as “Yang Berhormat” anymore, but as “yang botak” (the bald one).

The campaign was first announced by Syed Saddiq on Dec 26, where he aims to raise RM200,000 within five days.

The laptops will be distributed to needy students at the Hajah Hasnah multipurpose hall in Muar at 2pm on Thursday (Dec 31).
