Health DG: Health workers, too, have to be vigilant against Covid-19 fight

PUTRAJAYA: Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has issued a reminder to health workers not to be complacent in practising Covid-19 preventive measures.

He said Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) are not just for the general public, but for health workers, too.

“There are cases where workers who are symptomatic, but continue to come to work anyway. Or some who do not wear masks.

“This is how infections occur at hospitals.

“Sometimes, we take things easy and become complacent about SOPs.

“For example, when eating at the pantry, we do not follow SOP.

“The ministry constantly reminds all health workers that they too have SOPs to follow, ” said Dr Noor Hisham at the ministry’s Covid-19 press conference here.

He was speaking about the emergence of infection clusters at hospitals in the Klang Valley.

Dr Noor Hisham said Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang has seen 122 Covid-19 cases, while the Sungai Buloh Hospital has 80 infections.
