Security guard charged with murder of chef in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: A security guard was charged with the murder of a chef at the Magistrate’s Court here.

The 65-year-old allegedly committed the murder last Saturday (Dec 5).

No plea was recorded from Ong Lai Seng when the charge was read to him in Mandarin by the court interpreter before Magistrate Jamaliah Abd Manap.

Ong allegedly killed 42-year-old Chuah Kok Seong at the guard house of Block 8 of Desa May in Persiaran Paya Terubong here at about 8.50pm on Dec 5.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Yazid Mustaqim Roslan prosecuted while lawyer Teh Ee Teng appeared for the accused.

Yazid requested the court to fix another date for documents to be submitted to transfer the case to the High Court.

“We still need some documents to transfer the case to the High Court, ” he said.

Jamaliah then set Jan 27 2021 for the mention.

The 42-year-old victim was killed after being stabbed 10 times at a guard post of the apartment where Ong worked as a security guard.

The suspect had claimed that he had stabbed the victim after he could not withstand the constant harassment he received from the victim.
