Cops raid online gambling call centre at KL apartment


KUALA LUMPUR: Police busted an illegal online gambling call centre after a raid at an apartment unit on Friday (Dec 4).

"At around 6.50pm, a police team acting on previously gathered information raided the apartment at Taman Sri Sentosa.

"Three men and two women from China were held for suspected online gambling activities," said Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Omar in a statement on Saturday (Dec 5).

Computers at the scene were also inspected, with several elements of online gambling found.

"All suspects, aged between 17 and 43, were arrested and have been brought to the Brickfields police headquarters for further action. They told police that they had only been active for a month.

"Their immigration status will also be checked with the Immigration Department," he said.
