MELAKA: A 27-year-old man claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to two counts of sexual assault and another for illegal trespass at a house in Taman Tasik Utama, Ayer Keroh here.
The accused, Amirul Hanif Ibrahim, who was supposed to get married in March 2021, had his plea recorded before Judge Elesabet Paya Wan during proceedings on Thursday (Nov 26).
For the first charge, the accused was charged with attempted rape of a 23-year-old woman, who is the housemate of his fiancée.
He faces a charge under Section 376/511 of the Penal Code which carries a ten-year jail term and whipping upon conviction.
For the subsequent offence, he was charged with criminal intimidation of the victim with the intention of outraging her modesty under Section 354 of the Penal Code,which carries a ten-year jail term and whipping upon conviction.
The third charge for illegal trespass into a house of the victim was framed under Section 448 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of three years, a fine of up to RM5,000, or both, upon conviction.
Based on the charge sheet, the accused is said to have committed the offences at a house in Taman Tasik Utama, Ayer Keroh at 10.53am on Nov 17.
The accused had entered the house using a duplicate key.
He was represented by counsel Ahmad Soleh Yusof.
The court granted a bail of RM10,000 and ordered the accused to report to the nearest police station.
