PPP car plate number series fetches RM7.3mil over five-day auction

PETALING JAYA: A total of RM7.3mil was received within five days of the bidding for the PPP car plate number series, says the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

JPJ deputy director general (strategy and operations) Zamakshari Hanipah (pic) said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 11) that the bidding for the number series was opened from Nov 5 until Nov 9 via the JPJebid online bidding system.

“The PPP registration number series which was opened for five days collected the highest takings of RM7,257,785, and has overtaken the bid for the SYG series with a difference of RM3.7mil.

PPP 8999 was the most popular car plate number series with 33 bidders. The highest bid for it was RM12,888.

PPP 999 was the second most popular, with 28 bidders and the highest bid being RM106,000.

Zamakshari said that the remaining unregistered car plate numbers under the series would be open to the public at the following minimum prices:

Golden numbers at a minimum bidding price of RM20,000, two-digit attractive numbers at RM3,000, 3-digit attractive numbers at RM2,500, four-digit attractive numbers at RM2,000, popular numbers at RM500 and running numbers at RM300.

Interested buyers are advised to contact the state or branch JPJ office.

“The public is also advised to have a public mySIKAP ID to get the list of available numbers that have not yet been registered, which can be bought online.

“The JPJebid system is one of JPJ's efforts towards digitising its service delivery. JPJeBid offers transparency starting from the registration transaction until payment is made.

“Bidders can know the position (ranking) in real-time and there is no element of human intervention,” he said.

From tomorrow, Nov 12 until Nov, 16 2020, Zamakshari revealed that the bidding for “KFA” series for Kedah and “PPQ” for Penang will be opened.

The new minimum bidding price starts from RM315 to RM21,000, which includes a 5% increase in minimum bidding price.
