Helicopter crashes in Taman Melawati following mid-air collision

KUALA LUMPUR: A helicopter has crashed in Taman Melawati here after being involved in a mid-air collision on Sunday (Nov 8)

It is learnt that the aircraft crashed in a housing area behind a Tamil school, and early indications are that there are four victims of the crash - three men and a woman.

Fire and Rescue Department and police personnel as well as rescue personnel are on scene, as well as Gombak MP Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

When met at the scene, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said he was informed of a few casualties and that the other helicopter landed safely.

"It is an unfortunate event. There are casualties but we have yet to ascertain how many," he said.

Azmin said he was informed of the incident when attending a programme in Bukit Antarabangsa on Sunday morning.

"We hope the relevant authorities such as the Fire and Rescue Department as well as the police can investigate the matter thoroughly. We will wait for more information as the investigation continues," he added.
