Honours for Affendi and Acryl Sani

IPOH: Armed Forces chief Jen Tan Sri Affendi Buang and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani head the list of 147 recipients of awards and honours given out in conjunction with Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah’s 64th birthday today.

Both Affendi and Acryl Sani will be awarded the Darjah Seri Panglima Taming Sari (SPTS), which carries the title Datuk Seri Panglima.

Next on the list is State Secretary Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, who will be awarded the Darjah Datuk Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (DPCM), which carries the title Datuk.

Eleven notable personalities will be bestowed the Darjah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP) award, which carries the title Datuk.

Saunthari.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Razarudin Husain, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department deputy director Deputy Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, Army Headquarters Defence Engineering Services Branch director-general Brig-Jen Anhar Anuar, Royal Malaysian Navy headquarters Inspector-General Laksamana Muda Muhammad Ruzelme Ahmad Fahimy and Malaysian Armed Forces Health Services Department director Brig Jen Dr Nor Azam Jais will be conferred the Darjah Datuk Pahlawan Taming Sari (DPTS), which carries the title Datuk.

The respective titles will come into effect starting today.

Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Jen (Rtd) Tan Sri Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin said the investiture ceremony to award the recipients would be held at a later date.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he said all official functions in conjunction with the Sultan’s birthday would be postponed indefinitely.

“Only a reading of Surah Yassin and a doa selamat ceremony will be held at the Sultan Idris Shah II Mosque (State Mosque) on Friday.

“The ceremony will also be held in all district mosques in the state, to be led by the respective district Orang Besar Jajahan and district officers, ” he said in a press conference here yesterday.

Mohd Zahidi said the number of recipients was lower this year.

“Only those who are truly eligible and have fulfilled the criteria will be bestowed the awards, ” he said.

He added that the awards this year were primsarily focused on frontliners who had sacrificed their time and energy to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in the state.

“I hope the awards will raise the spirit and morale of the frontliners to continue fighting and ensure that the people are safe from the coronavirus, ” he said.

He also called on the people of Perak to celebrate the occasion by flying the state flag at their offices, business premises and homes.
