KOTA KINABALU Noorzain Tawi, a close aide of Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, has died due to Covid-19.
Noorzain, 60, passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here on Saturday (Oct 24).
Noorzain was buried at the Muslim cemetery in his village, Kg Sarusop in Tuaran on Sunday (Oct 25).
Family members and friends, including Hajiji, were seen in a video standing a distance away as he was buried under strict Health Ministry burial procedures for Covid-19 deaths.
It was learnt that Noorzain was about to be appointed Hajiji's confidential private secretary.
Noorzain, who also had asthma and high blood pressure, was admitted to the hospital earlier this month.
Hajiji and wife Datin Seri Julia Salag were discharged from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital last week after being treated for Covid-19.
Hajiji and his wife were admitted to the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 on Sept 7.
