MUAR: A palm oil processing plant in Bakri here went up in flames on Friday night (Oct 16) and has been burning for at least 14 hours.
The Fire and Rescue Department was alerted on the blaze in Jalan Bukit Mor, Bakri at 9.48pm, said its operations commander Emil Taihin@Toihin.
He said a total of nine fire engines and rescue units with 41 firemen from the Muar, Pagoh and Batu Pahat Fire and Rescue Department were deployed to the scene to put out the flames.
“The fire has engulfed the 30.4m by 30.4m area of the factory, where the palm oil processing machineries are located.
“The firefighting efforts are still ongoing and we are trying our best to do so using various sources, ” he said, adding that the cause of fire was still under investigation.
Emil said there were no casualties or injuries during the incident.
