Police arrest driver in connection with fatal accident in Johor Baru

JOHOR BARU: Police here have arrested the 23-year-old driver of the car which rammed into two other cars, killing one and injuring another at KM4 of the Jalan Johor Baru-Kota Tinggi here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain said the female suspect was arrested after the incident took place at around 9am on Saturday (Oct 10).

“She tested positive for drugs and has been detained to assist with the investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving resulting in death, ” he said.

ACP Mohd Padzli added that the suspect would also be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he said.

On Saturday, a 31-year-old man died on the spot after a car rammed into his vehicle, which was stationary at a traffic light along the road.

The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to turn turtle and damaged another vehicle, whose driver was also hurt.
