PUTRAJAYA: Four areas - three in Sabah and one in Selangor - have been put under a conditional movement control order effective Friday (Oct 9), says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Defence Minister said the areas were Klang in Selangor, and Sandakan, Papar and Tuaran in Sabah.
He said the decision was made by the National Security Council after the Health Ministry tabled its situation report on red zone areas.
Red zones are areas where more than 40 Covid-19 cases have been reported.
"Placing these areas under a conditional MCO will help curb infections and will allow health authorities to carry out contact tracing over the next 14 days," he said on Wednesday (Oct 7).
During the conditional MCO, people are not allowed to leave or enter these areas, except for those providing essential services.
Only essential businesses such as sundry shops, supermarkets, restaurants, clinics and petrol stations will be allowed to operate.
Sports, social and recreational activities are also prohibited.
Mosques and places of worship are also to remain closed during the conditional MCO.
