ALOR SETAR: Kedah agriculture and food industry, agriculture entrepreneurship and commodity, transport and Indian community affairs committee chairman Azman Nasrudin has tested positive for Covid-19.
Kedah State Legislative Assembly Speaker Juhari Bulat told The Star that Azman contracted the virus from his personal assistant.
"From my understanding, Azman now is getting treatment at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
"I was also told his wife and the family of his personal assistant all tested positive and have been admitted to hospital," he said.
Juhari said he attended the programme in Langkawi and has been asked to self-quarantine himself at home.
On Thursday (Oct 1), a school in Penaga, Penang was ordered to close until Oct 8, after one of its teachers tested positive for Covid-19.
It was believed that the teacher is Azman's spouse who contracted the virus from his personal assistant during the Sabah state election campaign period.
It has been learnt that the teacher, who is in her 40s and resides in Sungai Petani, Kedah, became unwell shortly after returning from Sabah after polling day on Sept 26 and went to hospital, where she tested positive.
