19 under remand in Banting shooting incident

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 19 people have been detained in connection with the Friday (Sept 25)'s shooting incident at Telok Datok, Banting.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed said those detained have been remanded for seven days.

"Initial investigations revealed that the motive for the attack was fighting among two rival groups.

"We are investigating the matter further," he told a press conference in Bukit Aman on Wednesday (Sept 30).

On Friday, two men suffered multiple injuries after they were shot by two armed gunmen in front of a secondary school in Banting.

The victims, who were in a blue BMW, were fired upon by the gunmen in front of SMK Telok Datok in Banting around 12.45pm.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat had said several students were also injured after the victims rammed into them and several cars in a bid to escape the attack.

"The suspects, who were on a motorcycle had tailed the victims and fired several shots at the BMW.

"One of the victims is a bodyguard, who was driving the vehicle during the incident," he said when contacted.

The victims were hit on the chest and other parts of the body, he added.

"They were rushed to Banting Hospital for treatment," he added.

SAC Fadzil said three students suffered injuries to their legs and necks.

"They are also being treated at the hospital.

"Doctors are checking whether they sustained other injuries," he said.
