Collective agreement in GRS shows maturity among politicians, says Perak MB

IPOH: The agreement by all Sabah state assemblymen and party leaders in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to choose Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor as Chief Minister shows maturity among the politicians.

Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the agreement was proof that leaders of Perikatan Nasional, Barisan Nasional and Parti Bersatu Sabah have put the interest and future of the people before their own.

"This is the dynamics of a new political landscape in the country.

"It shows the maturity of politicians to ensure that politics can continue to be upheld as a platform to unite the people and build the country, and not as a tool for division," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 29).

"We are confident and believe that the agreement between all state assemblymen and party leaders in GRS is only the start of a political cooperation that truly gives attention to the welfare of the people and the development of the state," he added.

Following GRS' win in the Sabah state election, Hajiji has been appointed as the 16th Chief Minister.

Faizal said the appointment of Hajiji was considered a victory for the people of Sabah, who had decided through a democratic process.

He also thanked the leadership of Warisan Plus for respecting the choice of the people through the state election and ensuring there were no untoward incidents and a smooth transition process.

"It is time for the state to form its government is strong to give the best services to its people and fulfil the pledges made to reciprocate the trust given.

"I believe Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Federal Government will continue to give support to the state government," he said.

"We have faith that Sabah will be looked after and can enjoy development under the spirit of federalism," he added.
