Cops: Four nabbed this year for viewing child porn

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have arrested four suspects for viewing child pornography with one already being charged in court as part of ongoing efforts under Ops Pedo, says City police chief Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin.

“From January to July this year four suspects have been caught after information was gathered from our policing partners overseas as well as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

“Raids were conducted across the Klang Valley and various items were seized, including computers and laptops, ” he said at a press conference at the contingent headquarters here on Friday (Sept 25).

Comm Saiful added that all evidence has since been handed over to their forensics department for analysis.

“One was charged on Aug 7 and the results of the forensics analysis are still pending for the cases of the other three suspects, ” he added.

Of the four suspects, Comm Saiful said that one was found to be a “highway patrolman” but kept mum when asked on which agency the suspect worked for.

The other three suspects were an unemployed man, a businessman and an IT technician.

“We have our ways to trace these people. People should never visit such websites, upload such videos or share them. Doing so is an offence under the law, ” he said.
