PETALING JAYA: The Perikatan Nasional component parties will stand united and support the government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
In a joint statement signed by the secretary-generals of Barisan Nasional, PAS, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and STAR, they rubbished claims by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that the PKR president has the majority support of MPs.
"All the parties working together under Perikatan - Barisan, Bersatu, PAS, GPS, PBS and STAR - are standing together in support of the government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, ” they said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 23).
The coalition also denied the claims by Anwar, who said that he has a "strong and formidable majority" to form the next federal government.
"His statements are just cheap publicity that has been done time and time before. His latest action also exemplify his greedy, power crazy behaviour," added the Perikatan leaders in the statement.
The statement was signed by Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, Datuk Jahid Jahim and Guan Dee Kohoi.
The leaders also said that Anwar was not concerned about political and economic stability, as well as the welfare of the people who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We believe the rakyat will reject such politics and will continue to support the Perikatan government that cares for the rakyat's welfare," they said.
