Perikatan launches ‘Aku Janji’ manifesto for Sabahans

KOTA KINABALU: Perikatan Nasional and its partners have launched an “Aku Janji” (pledge) manifesto for Sabahans, to be delivered if they win the 16th state elections come Sept 26.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Aku Janji comes with nine points that focuses on protecting the rights of Sabah in accordance with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), creating a clean and just leadership, prosperity for all and unity amongst Malaysians.

With regards to the MA63, he said he will make a clearer and more detailed announcement on how to go about this and its implementation later Wednesday (Sept 16) night.

He said in unprecedented times such as now with the Covid-19 pandemic, it takes extraordinary measures to handle and help the people.

“That’s why we need to have this Aku Janji so that everyone can benefit from what we have to offer, ” Muhyiddin said.

He also said this Aku Janji manifesto is achievable.

“But the state and Federal Government must work together to make this a reality, ” he said.

Sabah Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said with the Aku Janji, it is a sign that Barisan is committed to changing its organisation structure, how they operate and its leadership.

He said these changes are made to regain trust and confidence of the people to show that Barisan is willing to change for the people.

“This also shows that anyone who is not willing to change their ways will be substituted and might only become a half or one-term government, ” he said.

Bung said Sabah's sovereignty and safety must be preserved.

“For a better nation, we present to you a better government that protects our state rights, develops and improves our economy, introduces a plan that would be a game changer for Sabah, improves the livelihood of the people, protects our lands and one that would not compromise any outside claims on Sabah, ” he said.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chief for Sabah Datuk Hajiji Noor said he is confident that the Aku Janji can be realised, seeing how Muhyiddin had managed to handle the pandemic and economic situation despite only being the government for a short time.
