Bersatu appoints supreme council members, forms committee to amend constitution

PETALING JAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has appointed the party's supreme council members, state and bureau chiefs.

The appointments were made by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at a Bersatu meeting on Monday night (Sept 7), where a committee to amend the party's constitution was set up.

The committee will be headed by Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.

Among the appointments to the party's nine-member supreme council were Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (secretary-general), Datuk Mohamaed Salleh Bajuri (treasurer) and Wan Saiful Wan Jan (information chief).

Other appointments to the party's supreme council were Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof, Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, Zuraida Kamaruddin, Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari, Dr. Muhammad Faiz Na’aman.

Muhyiddin will head Bersatu in Johor as well as the party's political bureau, while Hamzah is to head Bersatu in Perlis with Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu in charge of Bersatu in Perak and Pahang.

Also appointed to head the party's bureaus were Azmin Ali (international), Ahmad Faizal (management), Senator Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin (training and cadre) and Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed (economy) and Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (elections and research).

Other appointments include Bersatu state chiefs Senator Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (Kedah), Datuk Shabudin Yahaya (Penang), Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari (Selangor), Capt (R) Muhammad Suhaimi Yahya (Federal Territories), Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith (Negeri Sembilan), Datuk Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen (Melaka), Datuk Kamarudin Md Nor (Kelantan), Datuk Razali Idris (Terengganu), Datuk Seri Panglima Hj. Hajiji Hj. Mohd Noor (Sabah) and Jaziri Alkaf Abdillah Suffian (Sarawak).

Appointments were also done for several deputy state chiefs posts which include Mohd Taufiq Yaacob (Kedah), Mohader Ahmad Mohd Ayob (Perak), Zulkefli Bakar (Penang), Dr. Mohd Yadzil Yaakub (Melaka and Mohd Yazid Yunus (Pahang), Datuk Rosol Wahid (Terengganu), Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (Sabah) and Datuk Johan Mohamad (Sarawak).

Other party bureau chiefs appointed were Mohd Rafiq (member and branch recruitment and Shahabudin (religion).

Bersatu also intends to do away with the post of party chairman which was previously helmed by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Bersatu is scheduled to hold the party’s annual general assembly on Sept 27.
