Parliament: IPCMC Bill expected to be withdrawn

KUALA LUMPUR: Drink driving, the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) and Tabung Harapan are issues that will be raised in Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (Aug 26).

The much anticipated IPCMC Bill is expected to be withdrawn, and is tipped to be replaced by the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) Bill 2020 which will be tabled for its first reading.

Also on Parliament's agenda are debates to pass the Road Transport (Amendment) Bill 2020.

The amendments will address the issue of increased penalties for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, including reckless driving.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PAS-Pasir Mas) wants Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz to explain what has happened to the Tabung Harapan and the money has been channelled to.

Gobind Singh Deo (PH-Puchong) will be asking Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah the effectiveness of the digital applications launched by the government in tracking the Covid-19 virus.

He also wants to know if these applications are in compliance with the law that guarantees protection of personal data.

Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa (PH-Parit Buntar) wants Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun to reveal the number or wife abuse cases in the country and how they are being dealt with.

He also wants to know what has happened to the Islamic Social Action Plan previously launched by the minister in the Prime Minister's Department (religion) during the Pakatan Harapan administration.

Dewan Rakyat will sit for the next two days before adjourning on Aug 27.
