Probe into security guard assault case almost complete

KUALA LUMPUR: The police are close to wrapping up the case in which a Nepalese security guard was seen beaten up by another man in a viral video.

Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Rajab Ahad Ismail said the police were at the last stage of the investigation.

“We will submit the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor once it is completed.

“We recorded the statement of the Nepalese security guard. The 26-year-old victim went to the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters on Wednesday,” he said yesterday.

It was reported that a Nepalese man was detained on Monday in connection with beating up a Nepalese security guard recently.

The suspect has since been remanded.

It was previously reported that a video has been making the rounds on social media showing a man repeatedly hitting a foreign security guard.

In the one-minute video, a man, speaking Bahasa Malaysia, confronts the guard and continuously beats him with a baton.

Off-camera, another voice speaking in a language similar to Hindi can be heard, possibly the person taking the video.

The attacker is also seen punching the guard in the face.

He is seen asking the guard if he came to Malaysia to find work or to look for trouble.

The man is also seen in the video saying he is being nice to the guard and asks what he gets in return.

“Do you think you are a big deal? What is your problem?” he asks the guard as he continues to beat him in the video.

The video has a timestamp indicating that it was recorded on July 7. It was posted on the Sq soul7 Facebook page on July 30.
