KUALA LUMPUR: The Nepal Embassy here has lodged a police report over a viral video showing a Nepali guard being beaten by a man with a baton.
In a post on its official Facebook page, the embassy expressed concern over the recent video trending on social media.
"The Embassy of Nepal, Kuala Lumpur notes with concern the recent video trending on social media regarding the assault on a security guard in Malaysia.
"A police report has been initiated for further investigations," it said.
The embassy also urged anyone with additional information on the incident to come forward through their email address email@example.com or hotline at 016-247 2777.
A video has been making the rounds on social media showing a man repeatedly hitting a foreign security guard.
In the one-minute video, a man, speaking Bahasa Malaysia, confronts the guard and continuously beats him with a baton.
Off-camera, another voice speaking in a language similar to Hindi can be heard, possibly the person taking the video.
The attacker is also seen punching the guard in the face.
He is seen asking the guard if he came to Malaysia to find work or to look for trouble.
The man is also seen in the video says he is being nice to the guard and asks what he gets in return.
"Do you think you are a big deal? What is your problem?" he asks the guard as he continues to beat him in the video.
The video has a timestamp indicating that it was recorded on July 7.
It was posted on the Sq soul7 Facebook page on Thursday (July 30).
