PUTRAJAYA: A pub-goer was among 37 individuals arrested for violating the standard operating procedures (SOP) enforced during the recovery movement control order (MCO), said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said that 16 others were detained for failing to practice social distancing on July 12.
“Five of the 37 arrested were remanded while the remaining 32 individuals were slapped with compounds, ” he said on Monday (July 13).
Even though almost all economic and social activities have been allowed during the recovery MCO, the authorities have yet to allow pubs and nightclubs to operate.
The taskforce to check on SOP compliance carried out 62,253 inspections nationwide on Sunday to ensure there are no violations, said Ismail Sabri.
Among the outlets checked were 3,974 supermarkets, restaurants (5,607), hawkers (1,315) factories (1,079), banks (3,718) and 740 government offices.
Also checked were land, air and sea transport terminals.
