KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 290 areas in the Petaling, Klang, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Langat regions will experience a temporary water supply disruption from July 14 to 17.
The disruption is expected to affect approximately 425,000 accounts.
Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) director and operations head Abas Abdullah said that the Sungai Selangor Phase 3 Water Treatment Plant (SSP3 WTP) will be temporarily shut down beginning 9am on July 14.
He added at a press conference on Monday (July 6), that the shutdown is in order to replace certain critical assets and carry out several improvement works and said that the water supply is expected to recover fully by 5pm on July 17.
“The critical asset replacement and improvement works of the SSP3 WTP will enable the plant to operate more efficiently and ensure that all equipment is in good working condition, ” he said.
Abas said that the SSP3 WTP is expected to recommence distribution of water at 9 am on July 15.
He added that the duration of the disruption will vary throughout the affected areas and will depend on the location of the customers’ premises, and he advised the public to check if their areas are affected.
Abas said that the complete list and locations of the affected areas, PKS, Public Water Taps and Water Filling Stations are also available on Air Selangor’s social media channels, website and the Air Selangor app.
The list of affected areas will be available on the website on July 7.
“Air Selangor will mobilise a total of 91 water tankers to the affected areas with priority given to critical premises, which includes hospitals and dialysis centres.
“The mobilisation to other premises will commence on July 16. We therefore urge customers in the affected area to store some water prior to the commencement of the scheduled water disruption and consume water prudently during this period, ” he said.
From July 16 to July 17, Air Selangor will make eight Local Service Centres and six Public Water Taps available for residential customers who need water before the resumption of the normal water supply.
Commercial customers can purchase water at two water filling stations using their respective water tankers and make payments for the purchase of water at all ten (10) Air Selangor customer service counters.
