Police extend suspects' remand in Datuk Seri kidnap-murder case

PETALING JAYA: Police have extended the remand of two suspects and are expected to extend the remands of two others over the kidnap and murder of a Datuk Seri.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat 11 suspects, including a Bangladeshi man, have been arrested over the case.

He said the remand of two suspects which expired on Monday (June 30) were granted extensions until next Monday (July 6).

"The remand of another two suspects which expires on Thursday (July 2) is expected to be extended till next Thursday (July 9)," he said in a statement on Thursday.

SAC Fadzil also said a second post-mortem examination is currently ongoing and expected to be continued on Friday (July 3) afternoon.

He reiterated that the case had always been classified as murder and kidnapping under Section 302 of the Penal Code and Section 3(3) of the Kidnapping Act, respectively.

"The need to arrest or trace more suspects will depend on our ongoing investigation. Rest assured, we will complete our probe as soon as possible," he said.

On Saturday (June 30), the victim's body was discovered in the bushes of Jalan Rawang Bestari Jaya at about 9am.

He was kidnapped while jogging in Bandar Sri Damansara on June 10.

The victim's body was already decomposing when it was discovered.
