PETALING JAYA: The man wanted by police in connection with the fatal kidnapping of a Datuk Seri has been detained.

He is the eighth suspect arrested in the case.

The suspect, nicknamed EL, was arrested in Bukit Sentosa, Kuala Kubu Baru, at about 7.30pm on Sunday (June 28).

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said the suspect has since been remanded for seven days.

"He was detained to assist ongoing investigations into the kidnapping and death of the 55-year-old victim.

"The suspect has been remanded until Sunday (July 5)," he said when contacted Monday (June 29).

SAC Fadzil said the police are looking for N. Vikneswarar (pic), nicknamed Thamby@Vinod with MyKad No 920716146331, to assist with investigations.

"His last known address is 587-144, New Green Park, 48000 Rawang, Selangor.

"We hope the public can assist us in tracking this man down," he added.

He urged those with information to contact investigating officer Asst Supt Farouq Fakhzan Mohd Nordin at 017-225 1403 or at the nearest police station.

It was reported that a businessman with the title Datuk was among the seven men detained on Friday (June 26) and Saturday (June 27) in connection with the case.

SAC Fadzil had said the victim knew the Datuk from past meetings and he is not ruling out the possibility that business rivalry was the motive behind the kidnapping.

It is learnt that a man claiming to be a lawyer was also among the seven suspects detained.

On Saturday, the victim's body was discovered in the bushes of Jalan Rawang Bestari Jaya at about 9am after he was kidnapped while jogging in Bandar Sri Damansara on June 10.

SAC Fadzil had said the suspects asked for a ransom from the victim's family after the victim was kidnapped on June 10.

"However, the ransom has not been paid," he said.

"One of the suspects led police to the victim's body in Jalan Rawang Bestari Jaya at 9am on Saturday.

"The suspects also claimed that the victim died between three and four days after he was kidnapped," SAC Fadzil had said.

The victim's body was already decomposing when it was discovered, he added.
