PUTRAJAYA: Food outlets are only allowed to operate until 10pm or risk action, warns Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said no matter how popular the outlets are, they must not operate beyond the permitted time.

“No one is above the law and the government is not giving any preferential treatment to anyone. If you don’t follow SOP, be it operating longer than allowed, or does not ensure social distancing in the restaurants, we will take action.

“I will inform the police and local authorities at tomorrow’s special committee meeting to get them to carry out checks and act against errant outlets, ” he said on Monday (June 1).

Ismail Sabri was asked on claims that certain mamak restaurants remaining open beyond the permitted operating hours.

On another matter, Ismail Sabri said the National Security Council and the Health Ministry have not tabled proposed SOPs for barbershops and hair salons to operate.

“For now there is none, so these businesses will remain in the negative list. This also includes personal service at home. Be reminded that this is not allowed.

“Once the SOPs are tabled, we will decide when is the best time to allow these businesses to reopen, ” he said.
