KUALA LUMPUR: Eight people are expected to be charged with threatening and kicking the man who allegedly kicked a female food delivery rider.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said they investigated the report lodged by the man under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

"The man claimed he was kicked and threatened at a restaurant in Puchong on May 18.

"We will charge eight suspects together with 10 others still at large at the Petaling Jaya Court Complex on Wednesday morning (May 27)," he told reporters at Kuala Selangor police headquarters on Tuesday (May 26).

It was reported that the man, who was seen making an obscene gesture and kicking a female food delivery rider in the viral video, was charged in the Magistrate's Court here last Thursday (May 21).

The man, later identified as Hii King, 61, a pensioner, pleaded not guilty after the charges against him were read in Mandarin before Magistrate Mohamad Ikhwan Mohamad Nasir.

In the first count, Hii was charged with allegedly kicking and injuring Shazleen Shazmi, 26, at Bandar Puteri, Puchong, here at 4.10pm on May 18 under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of one year or a fine of RM2,000 or both, upon conviction.

In the second count, he was charged with allegedly outraging the modesty of the woman by showing a middle finger at her at the same place, date and time under Section 509 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of up to five years or a fine or both, if convicted.

Police had taken statements from both the delivery rider and the man after both lodged separate reports.

The woman claimed she was kicked and shown lewd gestures by the man while the man claimed he was kicked and threatened by a group of people at a restaurant.
