PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia reported 45 more Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (May 6), bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 6,428.
Out of the 45 cases, only one was an imported case while the rest were local transmissions, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah at the Health Ministry’s daily Covid-19 media briefing Wednesday evening.
Malaysia also discharged 135 more patients in the same 24-hour span, which means 4,702 patients have recovered from Covid-19 in Malaysia since the outbreak began.
The Covid-19 recovery rate is now at 73.15% out of the total number of positive cases.
There are only 1,619 active cases being treated at the country’s health facilities at present.
There are currently 22 patients being treated at intensive care units (ICU) with nine on ventilator support.
Dr Hisham also announced one new death, putting the death toll at 107.
On the new death case, he said the 107th fatality was a 51-year-old man with a history of hypertension, diabetes and kidney disease.
He was admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital on April 22 and died at 2.53pm on May 5.
