MCO violation: Three arrested for indulging in a game of golf

IPOH: A golf club manager and two other men were arrested for playing golf during the movement control order (MCO) in Batu Gajah.

Batu Gajah OCPD ACP Ahmad Adnan Basri said three were having a game at a club in Batu Gajah today (Apr 16) at about 1.50pm.

He said the 67-year-old manager from Kampung Kepayang, together with the other two men aged 58 and 36, were arrested for defying the MCO.

ACP Ahmad said the 58-year-old man was a transport manager in Ipoh, while the other one worked as a tuition teacher and was also from Ipoh.

“A police team had been carrying out their rounds, and when they arrived at the club they saw the three men playing golf.

“As the team was heading towards them, they got into a buggy and left, but were subsequently arrested in the golf course, ” he added.

ACP Ahmad said the three men were detained under Section 269 of the Penal Code and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations.

He said their golf bags were also confiscated.

They are expected to be charged at the Batu Gajah court on Friday (Apr 17).
